Hello!
My name is sj and I’m a first generation college student from a small rural town with a unique perspective on science. I consider myself a lifelong student currently pursuing my PhD in Biochemistry. My research focuses on cell metabolism and epigenetics. If you don’t know what either of those are–don’t worry! I hope to share my science and the day to day activities of a scientist to demystify research and the PhD process.
In addition to science, I love to pick up new hobbies. I just bought a DSLR camera and I’m learning photography basics. I’m an avid crafter and DIY-er. I also really love being in the kitchen cooking and baking from scratch for myself and my husband.
Oh, yes I’m married! He’s the guy standing behind me. We make a dynamic duo as biologist and statistician.
